Job Overview

This company is seeking a seasoned Senior Cost Accountant to lead their manufacturing cost analysis and optimization efforts. You'll be responsible for overseeing the accuracy of cost accounting during month-end/year-end close, identifying areas for cost savings and process improvements in the manufacturing environment, and providing valuable financial insights to leadership. This role requires a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and product costing methodologies, with the ability to collaborate across departments to drive profitability.


Responsibilities

  • Lead accurate manufacturing cost recording during month-end/year-end close.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes, raw materials, and finished goods to optimize costing structures and drive profitability using cost accounting methodologies.
  • Collaborate with production teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement operational efficiencies through process improvements.
  • Prepare financial statements and cost reports to provide actionable insights into manufacturing performance.
  • Enforce adherence to accounting standards and internal controls specific to manufacturing.
  • Lead inventory management efforts, including inventory costing methods and inventory reconciliations.
  • Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes, providing strategic input on cost assumptions and financial projections.
  • Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes specific to manufacturing.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • 3-5 years of progressive manufacturing accounting experience, with a focus on cost accounting.
  • Proficiency in Oracle, QuickBooks, and advanced Excel skills.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and product costing methodologies.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Experience with process improvements in a manufacturing setting is a plus.
  • CMA certification preferred (3+ years).
