Position Summary/Purpose:

If you are planning to pursue a career as a healthcare professional, passionate about the STEM field and/or administrative work, consider a role as a Science & Pre-Health Peer Advisor for the College of Natural Sciences. The purpose of the Peer Advisor position is to assist the Science & Pre-Health Advisor, Associate Dean, and the rest of the advising team in their pursuit to continuously improve science advising resources and graduate school preparation for GCU students.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities/Essential Functions:

  • Schedule and conduct student appointments on career exploration and graduate school preparation
  • Collect and maintain student data related to advising assistance
  • Deliver presentations in classrooms and club meetings
  • Assist with administrative tasks
  • Support with managing Science Advising email inbox
  • Social media content creation
  • Create and edit documents/excel sheets/PowerPoint presentations using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Identify, plan, and implement ways to increase awareness of advising resources and opportunities to students
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and services provided
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Science & Pre-Health Advisor and Associate Dean

Qualifications:
  • FWS eligible preferred
  • Exceptional ability to organize information and pay attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Expert typing skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Outstanding ability to manage time and handle multiple tasks and priorities
  • Self-motivated with a desire to learn
  • Must be service oriented


Experience/Education:

Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:
  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor's program or Master's program.
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.

You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.
