Job Description

Monitors the status and quality of the preventive maintenance program. Provides overall management for facility maintenance.

  • Develops and maintains a detailed preventive maintenance plan.
  • Coordinates and oversees routine and preventative maintenance programs and establishes schedules of inspection for all operating equipment.
  • Directs the work activities of maintenance personnel.
  • Ensures compliance with center preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Performs necessary skilled work in one or more areas of plumbing, heating, electrical and other skill trade areas as needed. Instructs maintenance staff in proper safe operation of all tools used.
  • Maintains and makes repairs or arranges for maintenance/repairs to heating equipment, refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, electrical systems, water heaters, plumbing systems, washers, dryers, small appliances, and safety equipment.
  • Corrects Operation and Maintenance deficiencies noted on Facility Surveys, The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration and Management inspections within 180 days.
  • Completes minor repairs, such as patching holes, painting, clearing obstructions from drains and toilets. Repairs furniture, doorknobs, and locks. Replaces light bulbs, light ballast, and cover plates.
  • Notifies Director of repairs/costs above routine expenditures and of the potential to exceed the monthly budgeted amount.
  • Addresses Life safety deficiencies as required.
  • Assesses personnel needs and works with the Human Resources department to screen and interview potential staff. Recommends promotions, transfers, and merit evaluations within the department. Conducts and prepares performance appraisals.
  • Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate CSS and employability skills.
  • Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property.
  • Adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
  • Fosters and sustains a conducive environment at the center, ensuring it remains free from harassment, intimidation, and disrespect, thereby ensuring a safe space for both staff and students to engage in work and learning.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of three years of related experience.
  • One to two years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with youth.
  • A valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
