A. Performs non-repetitive electrical, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic maintenance functions to maintain all plant equipment in the proper operating condition.
B. Works from maintenance schedules and work orders submitted to the department and assigned by the maintenance supervisor / team leader.
C. Follows detailed blueprints, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics to help determine problems which are affecting machine operation. Uses test equipment, shop tools, and other shop equipment as well as considerable discretion to determine the proper repairs and procedures to correct machine malfunctions.
D. Performs various welding operations whenever necessary.
E. Repairs solid state electronic control systems.
F. Performs scheduled preventive maintenance operations to help prevent excessive down time.
G. Troubleshoots machinery and equipment problems relating to mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems.
H. Repairs all plant support equipment such as hoists, automatic sweeper, forklifts, etc.
I. Maintains hand tools and other related equipment which is used to make necessary repairs.
J. Performs equipment modification changes proposed by the plant support groups and directed by the maintenance supervisor / team leader.
K. Repairs and maintains the utility system within the facility.
L. Installs new equipment when necessary. Assists in the installation of equipment which is to be relocated within the plant.
M. Operates forklifts whenever necessary (any employee operating forklifts must successfully complete the forklift training program).
N. Detects and reports faulty operation of equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to assigned supervisor.
O. Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
P. Observes prescribed safety regulations and other standards of operation and conduct.
Q. Performs other related duties as directed by assigned supervisor / team leader.
R. Qualified candidate needs to be a self-starter that can work with little supervision.
S. Continuous improvement (Kaizen) background is a huge plus.
T. Will be required to log job details and labor hours in the plant's computerized maintenance management system.
Workers are subject to hazards which include a variety of physical conditions such as:
* Exposure to high heat
* Subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to require hearing protection.
* Proximity to moving mechanical parts
* Exposure to electrical current
* Work on scaffolding and high places
* Exposure to chemicals
* Subject to one or more of the following atmospheric conditions: fumes, odors, dust, or mists.
* Exposure to oils and other cutting fluids through air and/or skin exposure.
* Workers are required to wear respirators.
