The epilepsy team includes the largest and most experienced team of neurological experts in West Michigan, including three certified epileptologists, as well as neurosurgeons, dedicated epilepsy nurses and EEG technologists, including West Michigan's only advanced practice EEG technologist all housed within The Hauenstein Neuroscience Center at Saint Mary's, the only self-contained neuroscience hospital in Michigan.


Education

Minimum Graduate of an accredited Electro neurodiagnostic Program (END) program or on the job training with a minimum of two years' experience.

Preferred Graduate of an accredited Electro neurodiagnostic Program (END) with a minimum of an associate degree and one year electro neurodiagnostic experience.

Credentials/Licensure

Minimum Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification or ability to obtain upon hire. Ability to complete certification as an EEG Technologist by the American Board of Electro neurodiagnostic Technologists (ABRET), within two years of hire.

Preferred associate degree in health sciences.

Related Experience

Minimum Satisfactory completion of CCF EEG Course and Testing.

Preferred Non-invasive EEG testing competence.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Minimum Ability to read, write, and understand English, comprehends training manuals, duty lists, paperwork and forms. Follows basic directions. Works independently and demonstrates safe work practices.


Computer Competency


Familiarity with standard desktop and windows-based computer system, including email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software required to perform essential functions.


Physical/Mental


  • Stand, sit (80-100% of the time); Bend, climb, reach, restrain, twist (50-80%). Crawl, squat, crouch, stoop, kneel (21-50%); Lift / carry, push / pull objects weighing more than 60 lbs. (50-80%); Perform detailed tasks (5-20%), work with interruptions and changing work priorities (80-100%); Hear speech, speak loudly / softly; Distinguish sounds, colors, hot / cold surfaces, temperatures, odors; Utilize far / near vision depth perception, fine motor skills, manual dexterity. Ability to lift up to a maximum of 35lbs. and perform push/pull tasks that require a maximum force of 35 lbs. Ability to physically operate safe patient movement equipment in compliance with the Safe Patient Movement Policy.
