Summary of Job

The EHS S Mgr. will work to ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations and be responsible for developing and managing a formal EHS management system at the Kracor/Yamaha facility.

In support of Kracor s business strategies and goals, this position will lead, manage, drive, measure, and continually improve technical training programs, curriculum, and tools for Kracor/Yamaha employees to operate safely and efficiently. The EHS S Mgr. will lead and direct training initiatives, and will manage a multidiscipline training function, which supports a fulltime workforce focused on various technical, continuous improvement and business goals. The EHS S Mgr. will collaborate with senior leadership to develop long term, fluid objectives, strategies, and goals, while allocating resources to support key business initiatives and customer s needs.

EHS S Job functions (including but not limit to):

  • Develop and implement EH S policies and procedures that ensure compliance to federal/state laws, statutes, or regulations. Interpret applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and orders as they pertain to all environmental and safety issues.
  • Develop and maintain department budget for EHS S, adhering to established guidelines.
  • Oversee the activities of outside contractors working on company premises to ensure compliance with safety practices.
  • Monitor the inspections, use and condition of company tools, equipment and vehicles taking appropriate action to ensure proper operation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Maintain an Environmental Management System. Create and maintain environmental waste profiles. Coordinate environmental permit administration as required for new processes and equipment. Provide innovative sustainability solutions to continually reduce air, water, and waste metrics. Direct external environmental and other consultant services needed for technical support.
  • Conduct safety and environmental audits and inspections of new and existing equipment and processes; prepare recommendations and implement, as authorized.
  • Lead and manage risk assessment process to include Job Hazard Analysis, Ergo Job Hazard Analysis, and other safety assessments with the determination of effective controls and risk mitigation
  • Plan and implement safety training programs for managers and employees in work site safety practices, correct handling techniques for chemicals, equipment, and other materials, in compliance with OSHA and environmental requirements. Perform workplace assessments, identify hazardous conditions, and take corrective actions. Ensure workplace conditions comply with applicable federal and state occupational safety and health standard provisions.
  • Maintain, update, and ensure Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are up-to-date and employees could access those needed for their work area.
  • Lead Safety Program to reduce OSHA recordables and workers compensation claims. Manage Workers Compensation claims; track and evaluate worker injuries; interface with HR, and insurance provider. Ensure full and immediate visibility to General Manager, Human Resources, when, where, and how any incidents/accidents regarding EHS occurred.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with internal/external customers to facilitate problem identification/resolution. Act as liaison between facilities and corporate EHS S.
  • Publish management updates and metrics designed to initiate management awareness and participation. Maintain OSHA logs; ensure annual postings.
Qualifications and Skills:

Education
  • Bachelor s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or 8 years of experience working in environmental health and safety management.
Highly Preferred Experience
  • 3+ years experience in OHSAS18001, ISO14001, ISO45001 or similar accredited EHS management systems
  • Recognized accredited safety professional certification or credential.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of federal and state safety and environmental laws and the ability to identify and evaluate workplace hazards.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Workers Compensation Claims Management.
