Safety Manager


Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Focusing 60% of the role on driver safety and compliance, with the remaining 40% split between food and occupational compliance.
  • Conducting accident investigations and ensuring compliance with hours of service (HOS) and driver qualification (DQ) files.
  • Managing workers' compensation, primarily for driver accidents, and collaborating with the insurance company on claims.
  • Conducting new hire training during onboarding to ensure understanding of safety policies, occupational overviews, and equipment safety.
  • Leading monthly SQF audits at each facility in Charlotte and Colfax, with travel throughout North and South Carolina.
  • Overseeing the SQF certification process for new facilities.

Required Experience:

  • Knowledge of driver and DOT safety compliance.
  • Familiarity with warehouse environments, including forklift and pallet jack safety.
  • At least three to five years of experience in safety.
  • OSHA certifications

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with food safety and SQF.

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to engage trainees during training sessions.
  • Flexible mindset with a willingness to consider new approaches.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a knack for creative problem-solving.
  • Approachable demeanor, easy-going, and a team player who doesn't take themselves too seriously.
