POSITION SUMMARY

DCI seeks an experienced Chief Talent Officer to guide and update its human resource systems, talent acquisition, onboarding, and staff retention strategies. As DCI celebrates its 10th year, the Chief Talent Officer will play a critical role in helping DCI stay current with Human Resource best practices and compliance strategies. This position entails collaboratively designing and implementing a strategic updated human resource plan, with a focus on improving DCI s talent acquisition practices, onboarding processes, and staff retention planning. The CTO will manage and monitor a team of up to four direct reports that comprise the HR Department. This role will report to the Executive Director and will work closely with the DCI senior leadership team, and a wide range of internal and external DCI stakeholders. This is a core and integral role on DCI s senior leadership team!

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities of the Chief Talent Officer include:

  • Oversees and ensures DCI s HR Compliance Measures
  • Ensure that DCI operates in a manner that treats staff members as the essential part of how we fulfill our mission in service of students
  • Set a clear vision for how DCI attracts, recruits, hires, and onboards staff members across all roles
    • Develop an employee value proposition (EVP) and determine the best way to communicate to an external audience of potential candidates
    • Identify pathways and pipelines of a strong and diverse set of teacher, leader, and non-instructional candidates including teaching fellows, student teachers, and other nontraditional hires
  • Oversee the HR Team - Leading a dedicated team of up to four HR and Talent professionals to drive talent-based outcomes across the organization
  • Experience building / improving HR processes (Hiring, Onboarding, Retention)
  • Talent Acquisition Expertise
  • Can help sell DCI to prospective staff/talent and external partners, via hiring practices, onboarding systems, and staff retention processes
  • High Cultural Competence
  • Collaborate as a teammate on the Senior Leadership Team of DCI to help make organizational-wide decisions in service of fulfilling our mission
  • Own and implement the Staff / Talent Support Priority for the organization (this is one of the three priorities for DCI over the next 5 years)
  • Partner, support, and train all leaders in the building around talent-related initiatives including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and separations
  • Audit and strengthen all staff / HR policies in service of clarity and consistency in the execution of each of them - including staff leave and benefit policies
    • Ensure effective HR and other policies to promote health, wellness, and sustainability such that staff can persist in their roles over the long term
  • Develop effective methods to collect and respond to staff perspectives and concerns
  • Partner with the Chief Academic Officer and Principals on developing differentiated support plans for different staff members
  • Create clear and equitable performance management structures for most roles at DCI in a way that drives reflection, continuous improvement, and retention
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree is required, a Master's Degree is preferred.

  • Performance Management and Separation Best Practices
  • Managing and Leading Small Teams
  • Track Record of Managing and Coaching leaders and teachers
  • The ability to collaborate and work as part of the leadership team
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

SALARY & BENEFITS

Salary Range: $130,000 - $160,000 (Starting salary is determined by education and years of relevant experience), and robust benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and retirement. More details can be provided upon request.
