Position Brief:

The Chatham Group: Advanced Materials and Technologies Recruiting Firm is seeking talented candidates for a Research and Development Engineering role for the production of specialty flexible packaging utilized in the food & beverage, personal care, and medical device market segments. This role specializes in developing product specifications and design solutions the push the boundaries of existing packaging technology performance. The ideal candidate for this role will have a background in Materials Engineering or Science, Packaging Science, Chemical Engineering, or some other highly relevant field. Prior experience in the manufacturing of flexible packaging and blown films is preferable.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development of new flexible packaging products, technological advancements, production capabilities, and more for design conception through execution
• Study the market to target unmet needs and turn these into product specifications and design solutions
• Conduct pilot production programs and trials to ensure successful implementations of new product implementation
• Work with customers to align the needs of the market with the desires of the business management team
• Become a subject matter expert on blown film production, extrusion coating, and extrusion lamination
• Deliver detailed product development plans and reports to senior leadership to show progress on objectives

Requisite Background:

• BS Degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Packaging Science, Chemical Engineering, or other highly related field
• 5-7+ years of experience in flexible packaging manufacturing preferably in blown films
• High degree of proficiency in manufacturing processes such as blown film production, extrusion coating, and extrusion lamination
• General strong background in polymer science and technology
• Experience with project leadership and budgeting
