Schedule: Nights (Potential 36/48 rotation)

Duration: 6 weeks (initial)

Days Per Week: 3.00

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at our correctional facility located in Eloy, Arizona. The Registered Nurse will play a vital role in providing comprehensive nursing care to inmates, under the direction of Licensed Independent Providers. Duties include executing medical orders, administering medications, assisting in examinations and treatments, and ensuring the overall well-being of our incarcerated population.


Responsibilities:

  • Plan and provide comprehensive nursing care to inmates/residents, adhering to all applicable policies and procedures.
  • Execute medical orders and administer medications accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist Licensed Independent Providers in examinations and treatments of patients.
  • Attend sick calls with physicians, prepare examination rooms, and equipment.
  • Operate pill call, dispense medication, and document as per policies and procedures.
  • Assess and evaluate new inmates/residents for illnesses or injuries and refer to appropriate healthcare facilities when necessary.
  • Perform emergency procedures as needed and notify appropriate personnel for treatment orders.
  • Coordinate professional medical services provided by contract personnel.
  • Monitor and evaluate the provision of medical services to prevent inappropriate use or duplication.
  • Maintain absolute security and confidentiality of all medical records.
  • Provide health counseling and education to individuals and groups as required.
  • Escort inmates/residents to and from different areas for medical treatment.
  • Engage in functions in confined areas, ensuring safety and security at all times.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited college, university, or nursing program with a degree/diploma in nursing.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Minimum of one year of professional nursing experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with correctional healthcare practices is a plus.
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
