The Team:

Globally organized across London, US, and Hong Kong, the Portfolio Valuations & Monitoring Group is responsible for providing Senior Management with portfolio company analytics and strategic valuation support as needed.Within this Group, the Investment Risk team is tasked with evaluating risks in individual investments and across the fund portfolios.


Position Description:

The Associate position requires a candidate who is methodical and demonstrates strong attention to detail.


Primary responsibility is the application of financial analysis to understand and assess risks inherent in proposed investments and in the monitoring of existing portfolio companies. Additionally, the position allows for cross-collaboration on projects with the broader group.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and assess risks of proposed investments via a review of the investment thesis, business, and financial model (including assumptions utilized). Such review also covers available due diligence, competitive landscape, and sector attributes and trends.
  • Assist in proactive and regular in-depth reviews of portfolio companies, covering performance and material changes to financial profile.
  • Interact regularly and develop strong relationships with investing teams to facilitate information flow relevant to the risk assessment process.
  • Collaborate with functional teams as needed in the assessment of idiosyncratic risks as well as any sector trends relevant to the portfolio.


Required Qualifications / Skills:

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance or Economics is required with a demonstrated track record of both academic and professional success. Relevant master s degree is accepted.
  • 3+ years experience in financial services (Banking, Private Equity, Venture Capital) and practical knowledge of Credit Analysis and M&A analytics.
  • Experience working in a Risk function of an asset manager or investment bank is preferred.
  • Proficient in Excel and experienced in financial modelling and forecasting. Exposure to methodologies used to evaluate private investments and returns is a plus.
  • Strong writing skills and proficiency with PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple reviews with competing priorities across global geographies.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to dig deep is necessary for this role.
