Overview

This position performs both routine and semi-routine assembly tasks, which include sub-assemblies, assembling parts of final product, and some final assembly. This is the final manufacturing operation to check parts/products for quality and function.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working independently with the aid of work instructions, incumbent performs routine subassembly tasks such as assembling valves, switches, hand and foot piece controls, etc.
  • Performs semi-routine assembly tasks like electrical assembly in chairs and furniture, pressing and reaming operations, or any other designated routine sub assembly.
  • Regularly operates production equipment, power tools, and some test equipment while maintaining quality and productivity standards and following safety guidelines.
  • Routinely follows work instructions to perform tasks, may be required to interpret the results of certain test procedures, and may troubleshoot and repair parts when necessary, referring situations outside of instructions to the Supervisor.
  • At this level, incumbent is in the process of learning to build an entire product or line and may train less experienced Assemblers.
  • Maintains acceptable dependability level, follows safety guidelines, and must not pose a risk to self or others.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English with a demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions, troubleshoot problems when necessary, and have the ability to determine color codes on tubing and electrical wiring operations. Must also possess basic computer skills.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, some fractions, and ability to effectively read a ruler.
  • General assembly knowledge and manual dexterity required.
  • Ability to interpret method sheets, bills-of-material, samples, and production orders and must have ability to operate required hand tools.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous, applicable experience and familiarity with A-dec product lines preferred.


Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis. Must have manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively. Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift. Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration and /or dust, and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); such as, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.
