Marine Terminal Safety Manager

The Regional Safety Manager will join a team of safety experts who work together to provide new and effective safety solutions to our clients in a specific geographic area. The main job is to talk to executives, leaders, and safety teams at their workplaces and help them focus more on safety. This involves working closely with over 50 clients in the area to make sure safety rules and systems are followed properly. The goal is to create a workplace where accidents rarely happen and everyone goes home safely each day.

The job needs someone who can communicate well with all levels of employees, from the CEO to workers in the field, in both union and non-union workplaces. The perfect person for this role would live near the ports of LA/ Long Beach so they can easily visit most clients.

Important Skills:

  • Able to persuade leaders and employees about the importance of safety.
  • Understands safety rules and regulations.
  • Works with clients to make sure everyone is responsible for safety.
  • Knows about workplace dangers and how to reduce risks.
  • Can analyze accidents and suggest improvements.
  • Comfortable giving presentations to executives.
  • Good at preparing and delivering presentations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Talk to clients to support their safety programs.
  • Encourage a culture of personal safety among employees.
  • Visit local client locations to identify safety risks and find solutions.
  • Share safety information internally and externally.
  • Respond to requests for information clearly and accurately.

Other Duties:

  • Help other departments when needed.
  • Have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel.
  • Work independently and keep sensitive information private.
  • Travel often, including overnight trips.
  • Join corporate or safety projects as needed.
  • Do other tasks as required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Understand English well and, if possible, speak Spanish.
  • Good with computers and able to learn new systems.
  • Can manage projects well and stay organized.
  • Can work well without direct supervision.
  • Understands basic math and can use it for work.

Physical Demands:

  • Mostly works in an office but might be outside or in industrial areas.
  • Might need to climb or move around in tight spaces.
  • Should be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Good eyesight and hearing are necessary.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of related experience, or an Associate s degree and at least 4 years of related experience.
  • Experience in maritime industry necessary
  • Safety certifications like CSP or ASP are preferred.

Work Environment:

  • Besides office work, might be around machinery and hazards. Safety gear will be provided.
