**Description**

Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is looking for a Senior Principal Scientist, Novel Drug Delivery Technologies, to develop long-acting parenteral formulations for diverse advanced therapeutic modalities and contribute during the early development by designing formulation strategies and applying drug delivery concepts to enable desired exposure for preclinical and clinical studies.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

* Develop long acting injectables and extended-release formulations for New Chemical Entities (NCEs), Peptides, and ATMPs.

* Develop parenteral formulations for diverse therapeutic modalities employing novel technologiesnot limited to, liquid crystals, PLGAs, hydrogels and nanoparticulate systems.

* Evaluate novel drug delivery technologies, leverage external consultants and internal SMEs, and establish new internal and external collaborations.

* Independently take initiatives in problem solving and finding solutions to scientific challenges is required.

* Lead portfolio and technology development projects and mentor others in areas of expertise.

* Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise (SME) in cross functional formulation, process, and analytical investigations.

**Required Education & Experience**

* This position requires a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics, Chemical engineering or related scientific disciplines with a minimum of seven (7) years of industrial or academic experience in novel drug delivery technologies to develop long-acting injectable formulations and leadership role.

* Understanding of novel formulations & process developments, characterization and analytical techniques.

* Scientific and practical knowledge of NCEs, Peptide, and/or ATMP formulations development.

* Demonstrated drug delivery expertise through a record of publications and presentations.

* Experience in managing, leading and coaching a team of junior scientists.

* Excellence in collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface with and influence a broad range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

* Excellent interpersonal skills and strong ability to communicate effectively.

**Preferred Experience**

* Previous experience in biotherapeutics development with products in pre-filled syringes and other drug-device combinations and their impact on sub-visible particulate generation.

* Postdoctoral research experience in industry or academia.

**Eligibility Requirements**
