I - Job Purpose and Summary:

Reporting to the Site General Manager, the purpose of this role is to create, improve, lead, and optimize the PGPI Evansville maintenance team to achieve a performance level where the site can truly claim to be and recognized both internally and externally as "Best in Class". The core competency of the role will ensure the proper preventative maintenance plan is developed and achieved.

This person will operate as part of the PGPI Evansville Operations Leadership Team, recruiting, developing, and coaching a team to create high level performance, continuous improvements and assist in capital projects as needed. The role will ensure that engagement and high levels of performance remain a priority through the ongoing operation of the site.

The role will ensure high levels of leadership in HSE, Food Safety, Production and Maintenance Performance. The role will drive the site into exceptional high performance across the maintenance balanced scorecard- safety, quality, performance, cost and people. The role will ensure compliance to standards are built upon and improved year on year.

II - Key Accountabilities:

  1. Heath, Safety & Environment: This role will be responsible and accountable for the HSE and Food Safety performance of the team through the adherence to all PGPI's Health & Safety and Environmental policies and procedures as well as to all relevant OSHA regulations in order to achieve ZERO workplace incidents and injuries. The role will ensure that maintenance work, equipment improvements, capital work and site facilities are always maintained to the correct safety, food safety, environmental and work standards. Ensure that a physically safe working environment exists and that as a minimum the standards set out in the HSE, and Food Safety manuals are met. Ensure teams follow the correct procedures, policies and documentation requirements on a day-to-day basis.

  2. Quality & Food Safety: This role will ensure that improvement plans will deliver year on year benefits in the areas of safety, environment, customer complaints, Good Manufacturing Practices, hygiene, factory standards, manufacturing compliance, process and packing improvements and work standards of the site. Responsible for ensuring that all Maintenance policy standards and systems operate in accordance with the PGPI food safety plan standards, BRC and other related standards, customer requirements and any ABF requirements. These policies and systems must be reviewed at an agreed interval frequency. Accountable and responsible for maintenance and facilities non-conformances and incident management including the tracking, root cause analysis and completion of the appropriate corrective actions.

  3. Maintenance: This role will manage and lead the Site Maintenance Team, setting industry leading standards on quality maintenance work, condition-based monitoring, critical asset assessments, equipment availability, support capital project management and facilities management whilst driving exceptional cost control. You will drive a Plant Availability culture through the site and the wider PGPI Evansville site providing support to all functions.

  4. Cost: Forecasting, budgeting, delivering, and reporting on the Maintenance Budget for PGPI Evansville Operations. Accountable for understanding and planning on the required resources to run the maintenance plan for PGPI Evansville and forecasting a budget + a spares budget accordingly. Accountability for delivering to the agreed budget forecast.

  5. Continuous Improvement: Understand, implement, and review maintenance and plant availability systems associated with the site infrastructure and production environment to the agreed safety, technical and work standards. Ensure KPI's are monitored and presented to allow identification of improvement plans. Leading and owning the evaluation of risks prior to the introduction of and establishment of controls of a new maintenance practice, process or equipment installation. Ensure the maintenance team KPIs are improved upon year over year

  6. Leadership: Ensuring the Maintenance team are meeting as a minimum the PGPI corporate HSE and Food Safety compliance training, education, ongoing yearly reviews and engagement standards. Ability to manage change through the agreed systems and effectively pass information down the line to concerned teams for smoother execution. Ensure all employees are skilled, their knowledge/education/practice are regularly tested/reviewed, and any deviations dealt with in a timely manner. Educate and provide expert maintenance knowledge to the team and ops teams as well as the management team. Delegate and allocate responsibilities efficiently to manage initiatives and projects from end to end. Involvement in the selection process for reports within the team. Owns the training and development needs of individuals within the team. Understands and identifies technically related training requirements at all levels in the business (e.g. CompEx, IET Wiring Regulations, latest 18th edition training, management of electrical safety) to ensure that all employees are properly equipped to undertake their roles. Ensure any changes contribute towards delivering a flexible operation, that is well equipped to respond to changing demand levels and customer mix.

  7. Training & Development: Participate in all trainings related to the job in order to gain knowledge/skills/abilities needed for exceptional performance. Together with Site General Manager, prepare personal development plan in order to identify areas for improvement.

External: Customers, 3rd party auditing bodies, ABF and external finance audit bodies

Requirements

IV - Job Requirements (Required and Preferred):

Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or any technical related similar degree.

Related Experience

  • Minimum experience of 10 years in a supervisory role (senior engineering or maintenance management experience or equivalent)
  • Food manufacturing experience - ideally in bakery sector
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Familiarity in drafting and understanding blueprints and schematics
  • Strong safety core compliance experience - LOTO, confined space, electrical safety, dust management, hot works, permits, ARC Flash.
  • Project management experience

V - Work/Employment Conditions and Other Requirements:

Work Environment: This job operates in a manufacturing warehouse environment. This role routinely uses manufacturing equipment. The environment is hot, cold, wet, dusty, and loud. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment on the manufacturing floor (hearing protection, hard hat, safety glasses, beard/hair nets, safety shoes). The site handles the allergens of Soy and Gluten on a regular basis

Physical and Sensory Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms overhead and grip; climb stairs, work from heights up to 40 feet; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move products and supplies, up to 55 pounds.

Position Type and Working Schedule: RFT - Regular Full Time, working schedule based

Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to Woodland, CA and visits to equipment suppliers as necessary during Capital procurement work
