Senior Wireless Engineer


Job Details

Wireless Engineer is responsible for providing subject matter expertise for the design, planning, installation and maintenance of wireless networks, wireless access points, WLAN discovery/analysis and understanding of wireless inside an operational environment. Performs database input into network management devices. Demonstrates the ability to resolve difficult problems. Works with contractors on site to ensure work is being done to engineering specifications. Assists other technicians in installing and/or testing wireless network performance and/or resolving site problems. Additional responsibilities include installing and/or configuring network switches and wireless access point devices, testing and/or installing fiber and copper cable and performing WiFi signal surveys. Performs other duties as assigned by management. Be able to travel via various methods to a job site which include other states and potentially countries.

Required Skills -

Installation and configuration of Wireless Controllers (Cisco, Aruba, Motorola, Ruckus etc..) MUST HAVE

Perform onsite wireless Site Survey using Airmagnet or Ekahau is a must.

Design and implement wireless lan (WLAN) and other wireless networks

Knowledge and experience in configuring Cisco network switches, wireless controllers and wireless access points.

Job Duties -

Devise, plan, deploy and improve wireless networks from the beginning to implementation by collaborating with vendors, managers and other wireless and network engineers

Understand client requirements and statements of work and be able to execute in alignment with expected tasks and outcomes

Review deliverables for accuracy and completeness

Use tools to evaluate to test and modify wireless products

Design and validate the performance, quality and reliability of the wireless network

Design and implement wireless lan (WLAN) and other wireless networks

Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, diagrams and procedures

Job Requirements -

Perform onsite wireless Site Survey using Airmagnet or Ekahau is a must.

Post Installation coverage verification using Airmagnet, Ekahau

Develop predictive wireless survey designs

Troubleshooting using AirMagnet Spectrum Expert or Ekahau Spectrum Analyzer

Conducts collection and presentation of field data of wireless network as required during Survey and Post-Install site visits.

Able to configure and troubleshoot wireless controllers (WLC).

Performs basic network cabling as required on per site basis.

Ability to identify of telephony equipment i.e. CSU/DCU, smart jacks, 66 & 110 blocks and other network equipment as needed.

Performs manual cross connect functions on telephony blocks and/or patch panels.

Uses computer inputs to create, modify, and/or correct database contents on network management devices.

Knowledge and experience in configuring Cisco network switches, wireless controllers and wireless access points.

Able to use Microsoft Excel, Word and Visio to create site as-built documents.

Travel 100% to client locations both domestically and internationally (as required)
