General Nature of Work

The purpose of this classification is to promote, implement and execute effective marketing strategies and campaigns for Smith Gilbert Gardens and the Southern Museum and analyze the effectiveness of each campaign.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Promote and implement marketing initiatives for Smith-Gilbert Gardens and the Southern Museum; analyze current marketing strategies, including e-commerce and website development; develop proactive responses to make necessary adjustment; review market analysis to determine audience needs.
Research, compile, and/or monitor administrative or statistical data pertaining to marketing operations and effectiveness, including marketing activities, response and ROI; identify new market opportunities and audience preferences; summarize data, perform routine data analysis, and prepare reports; conduct research of department files, database records, electronic data sources, Internet sites, hardcopy materials, or other sources as needed.
Coordinate all advertising campaigns, including television, radio, print ads, direct mail pieces, etc.; oversee all special marketing events and publicity functions; manage media placement and purchase; assist with writing press releases.
Develop and implement marketing budget; monitor expenditures for adherence to established budgetary parameters.
Create marketing and promotional materials, including radio, newspaper, brochures, fliers, and direct mail; designing and printing materials using computerized desktop publishing software; laying out pamphlets, brochures, fliers, newsletters, advertisements, and other publications; take photographs and maintains photo database for use in marketing and promotional materials.
Manage the Smith-Gilbert Gardens and Southern Museum websites and social media pages; gathers, write and submit information regarding programs, schedules, activities and events; work with staff to develop and maintain website's content as pertains to marketing; monitor website activity and social media reach.
Promote Smith-Gilbert Gardens and the Southern Museum; build relationships and partnerships with local and regional sites, businesses, organizations, Metro-Atlanta attractions, Georgia Tourism Industry, as well as internal City departments; coordinate and develop proposals and plan itineraries for prospective industry representatives; attend trade shows and events; conduct site tours; prepare and provide information materials; maintain communication and work closely with a variety of local, regional or national agencies and clients.
Assist with responses to inquiries; answer questions and respond to requests; respond to media inquiries and questions; provide print and broadcast interviews as needed.
Attend meetings and make presentations; provide information to civic organizations, businesses and potential sponsors; develop and prepare presentations; provide brochures and other collateral materials.
Assist with coordinating special events and activities; assists with designing and producing publicity materials and articles for events; monitor expenditures for fiscal compliance; coordinates set up and tear down for events, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or related field; experience in marketing, advertising, public relations, graphic design, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.

Physical Requirements: This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.

Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
