General Information & Responsibilities
Black Hawk College seeks a part-time/ adjunct Emergency Medical Services (EMS) instructor.
Description of Duties
Faculty member is expected to encourage learning by:
- Developing lectures, discussions, and other presentations or activities to enhance the student's educational experience
- Developing, securing, preparing, and maintaining the equipment and other instructional materials essential to the presentation of the classroom material
- Evaluating learner performance, providing feedback, and maintaining adequate records of lab activities and skill competencies
- Participating in activities that promote Blackhawk College EMS education, including student recruiting, program marketing events, and others as appropriate.
Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in an appropriate medical or allied health education; Master's degree preferred. Must have a current Illinois license as an EMT, EMT-I, A-EMT, Paramedic, or Pre-hospital RN. A minimum of two years' experience in EMS or emergency care; and two years' of documented teaching experience. Must possess demonstrated oral English Proficiency for classroom instruction.

Pay is commensurate with education and experience.
Minimum starting pay for adjunct faculty (as of Fall 2023)
Less Than a Master's Degree = $648 per equated hour
Master's Degree = $756 per equated hour
Doctorate = $810 per equated hour
