Job Details

SUMMARY:

The function of the Estimator is to review plans and specifications for projects and

develop an estimate for competitive bids and conceptual cost estimates. The Estimator

will also work with the project team on CM projects to develop realistic and attainable

budgets.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepare the project information sheet and distribute to all parties
  • Acquire as many subcontractor bids as possible in order to ensure the completeness of the estimate and provide a competitive advantage
  • Organize the bid runner to allow for timely submission of the bid
  • Analyze each project to find the most inexpensive way to complete the work and obtain the company s profit goals
  • Coordinate the estimate with the project management team
  • Prepare the phase report for each project within 5 days from receipt of documents
  • Make certain that all bid forms are properly prepared and insurance and bond requirements are met
  • Notify management of any situations which may concern the company
  • Review and develop a clear accurate estimate beginning with the phase report
  • Perform take-offs of certain scopes so that discussions can be had with bidding subs
  • Develop subcontractor interest in the project through oral and written communication
  • Have the bid submitted on time
  • Maintain a working relationship with subcontractors
  • Look for new subcontractors to use on jobs on a continual basis
  • Keep up with and have knowledge of changes in prices and materials
  • Maintain data base of subcontractors and material
  • Issue bid invitations to subcontractors and suppliers
  • Provide management reports as needed
  • Assist Project Managers as required
  • Hand off project(s) to Operations department
