Our client has built a tremendous reputation in site excavation services and equipment sales of heavy equipment accessories. They are growing their business and are seeking a motivated, hands on, and strategic sales manager with experience in equipment sales within excavation, utilities installation, recycling, material processing or earth moving industries.

  • Base compensation in the 80k range with health and dental insurance and 401k.

    Total compensation with incentives in the 150k plus range.


    Summary- Sales Manager

    This is a full-time role as a Sales Manager. Responsible for leading and guiding the sales team to achieve revenue targets and company objectives Responsibilities include conducting sales activities, including lead generation, prospecting, and closing deals. The role also involves building and maintaining relationships with existing and potential clients, providing product demonstrations and presentations, negotiating contracts, and ensuring customer satisfaction. While the role is primarily based in Guilford, CT, there is flexibility for some work from home. Travel for client visits throughout New England will be expected, as well as several trade shows during the year.

    III. Objectives

    1. Setting Sales Goals: Establish sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for regions and territories; project expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products.

    2. Sales Leadership: Plan and execute sales presentations to new and existing accounts nationwide.

    3. Team Leadership: Build, lead, coach, and motivate the sales team to meet or exceed sales targets; provide guidance and support to improve performance.

    4. Sales Strategy Development: Develop and implement strategic sales plans to expand the customer base and achieve sales goals; identify emerging markets and market shifts while being aware of new products and competition status.

    5. Sales Negotiation and Closing: Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with customers to secure sales. Utilize skills to overcome objections and persuade customers to complete purchase.

    6. Sales Performance Analysis: Analyze sales data, trends, forecasts, and competitor activity to adjust strategies and tactics; accordingly, compile reports on sales performance and track key metrics.

    7. Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships; understanding customer needs and ensuring customer satisfaction.

    8. Product Knowledge: Maintain in-depth knowledge of the company's products and services as well as industry trends; effectively communicate product features and benefits to customers.

    9. Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as marketing, finance, and operations to align sales strategies with overall company objectives; provide feedback and insights to improve processes and offerings.

    10. Recruitment and Training: Recruit, hire, and train new sales staff; conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

    11. Budget Management: Manage the sales department budget effectively; control expenses and maximize profitability.

    7. Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the industry, market trends, and competitor landscape; ability to adapt strategies accordingly.

    8. Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field is often required; additional certifications or advanced degrees may be preferred.

    9. Experience: Typically, a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in sales, with at least 1-2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.

    10. Technology Proficiency: Proficiency in using sales management software, One Page CRM, and other relevant tools to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
