What you'll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Identify environmental aspects and impacts associated with manufacturing, warehousing, retail, and aftermarket operations and develop strategic plans for compliance
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve environmental compliance programs and initiatives for all Scout locations and activities
  • Prepare permits for submission to regulatory agencies related to air (including Title 5 and PSD), water (SIU, SWPPP) and land
  • Governance and oversight of all aspects of environmental compliance tasks for the manufacturing facility and other locations by supporting the local EHS staff in permitting, sampling, reporting, and recordkeeping requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement policies, procedures, and practices that align with environmental compliance objectives and/or requirements principles
  • Identify, monitor, and track environmental metrics to measure progress towards sustainability goals and report on key performance indicators
  • Conduct environmental audits and risk assessments to identify potential environmental hazards and develop mitigation strategies
  • Stay informed about emerging environmental trends and technologies and recommend innovative solutions to improve environmental performance
  • Prepare and present reports on environmental compliance initiatives to senior management and other stakeholders
  • Assist with site selection for new locations and serve as the primary contact for the real estate team and aid with due diligence efforts and/or ESAs completed by 3rd parties
  • Coordination with external resources such as consultants and counsel
  • Lead a team of environmental engineers responsible for air/water/waste compliance

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, SC. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.
What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, engineering or related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in Environmental Compliance in a manufacturing setting
  • Experience in the EV automotive industry is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of US environmental regulations (Title 5, PSD, SIU, SWPPP, SPCC, EPCRA, TSCA, etc.), and industry best practices. Working knowledge of European environmental regulations.
  • Strong background in ISO 14001, experience as a lead auditor is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing environmental compliance programs.
  • Passion for environmental conservation and commitment to driving positive change through sustainable practices.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $145,000-$165,000
