Job Details

JOB SKILLS NECESSARY: Knowledge of boilers, compressors, generators, etc, as well as various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems; ability to read and interpret blueprints; knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulations; ability the make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action; knowledgeable of maintenance practices and procedures, as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing maintenance functions in long-term care facilities; good written and verbal communication skills to understand and articulate what is needed; aesthetic sense to understand what looks good; detailed oriented, good manual dexterity, strength and ergonomic skills to move equipment safety and efficiently; strong sense of balance to not fall off roofs or ladders; good time management skills, ability to work alone and get assignment done on time and without on-going direction; ability to problem solve, follow directions; safety conscious; is neat, is able to calculate the cost and quantities of material required. Skilled in use of hand and power tools; ability to take apart machines, equipment or devices to remove and replace defective parts; experienced with precision measuring.

JOB SUMMARY: Provides facility and equipment repairs, maintains mechanical equipment, buildings and machines, including but not limited to plumbing work, painting, repairs and upkeep, electrical repairs, heating and air conditioning system maintenance.

JOB DUTIES:

Collaborates with Building Supervisor on Duty and provides guidance and oversight as needed.

Collaborates and works with administration, nursing, and all other departments to drive and

support strategic goals and uphold corporate mission and values.

Conducts routine inspections of premises (inside and outside), and equipment.

Performs preventative maintenance throughout the facility.

Takes the lead on problem solving situations during the work shift.

Handles basic repairs and maintenance.

May oversee contractors when professional repairs are necessary.

Diagnoses mechanical issues and corrects them.

Repairs machines, equipment, or structures as necessary.

Performs minor building, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and painting repairs as necessary.

Moves boxes, equipment and furniture as needed.

Provides outside facility services, such as, but not limited to; mowing grass, trimming weeds, snow-

blowing, shoveling.

May coordinate Safety and Disaster Training with staff, and facilitate the "learning" session (Safety Drill).

May assist families with moving resident's personal items into their room, or out of facility on discharge

date.

Performs facility audits, for compliance.

Participates as an active contributor to facility committee, as assigned by Director of Maintenance.

Always follows all safety rules, policies, and procedures.

Additional duties as needed to fulfill the needs of the department or facility.
