**WHAT YOU'LL DO**

The Custodian will work at Aspen Terrace Apartments on Capitol Hill in Seattle. Aspen Terrace is a 7 floor, 90 unit apartment building providing affordable housing. The Custodian performs assigned/scheduled janitorial duties. The Custodian is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of residents, staff and visitors; and provides quality services and structured programming designed to promote successful community living.

**PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**

* Clean common area floors including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, interior and first floor windows, and waxing as needed.

* Clean and sanitize bathrooms, laundry room, and communal spaces that includes washbasins, clean mirrors, walls, and wash room floors routinely.

* Complete pre-approved maintenance items as requested.

* Report any maintenance problems or issues identified while conducting building rounds in a timely manner to the Apartment Manager.

**WHAT YOU'LL BRING**

(Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience)

* Be able to read, write, and communicate effectively with staff and residents from various backgrounds.

* Ability to work effectively with participants displaying a wide range of behaviors.

* Current CPR/First AID Certification or within two months of hire.

* Ability to make positive use of supervision, function effectively in an interdisciplinary team approach, participate in, and learn from in-service and on-the-job training.

* Ability to maintain boundaries with staff, clients and guests.

* Ability to maintain an attitude toward interactions with participants that is objective, free from personal bias; one that allows for perspective and flexibility in observing groups and individual behavior patterns.

* Ability to demonstrate personal flexibility, and a professional demeanor, and be able to work toward broad goals, while at the same time, work with a vast number and variety of details.

* Able to pass contract specific screenings.

**PREFERABLY YOULL BRING**

* Some janitorial or maintenance experience is desirable.

* Experience delivering quality customer service.

* Experience working with adults who have functional, cognitive disabilities, mental illnesses, substance abuse disorders, justice involved and/or recent homelessness experiences.

* At least one-year experience in human services.
