Definition

The position is responsible for developing the Food Services Programs within schools in the District including appointing staff for all locations, monitoring managers and support staff. Oversees the training program. Other duties include processing personnel paperwork and evaluating new food products.

  • Assists the Director in overseeing personnel functions including identifying tasks and creating positions; interviewing, selecting and appointing personnel; processing transfers and promotions; monitoring staff performance; preparing required documentation and paperwork; maintaining personnel record; and ensuring all actions are in compliance with the rules and regulations of the Municipals Civil Service Commissions and all health, safety and sanitation precautions and standards.
  • Acts as a liaison between the department and principals, teachers, students, and parents.
  • Oversees staff training for both new employees as well as continuing training for existing employees.
  • Assists the Director in determining goals and objectives for the Food Service Department.
  • Supervise and direct workflow of staff.
  • Conduct budget analysis and adherence to meet department goals.
  • Maintain utilization of point of sale system.
  • Assures quality standards are met at all service locations.
  • Monitors compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulatory agencies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Hospitality, Dietetics. or related field.
  • Five years food service experience in educational institution.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position will be considered.
  • Must have valid Ohio driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of leadership principles.
  • Financial management theory concepts, principles and methods in order to monitor costs and utilize resources efficiently.
  • Knowledge of nutritional principles.
  • Communications and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work directions.
  • Ability to stay focused on the mission while dealing with changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of budget management, analysis of data for decision making process.
  • Ability to analyze operations and make changes for greater efficiency.
  • Basic knowledge of word processing, emails, and Excel spreadsheet computer skills.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Tools/Equipment Use: Desktop PC with keyboard and mouse, laptop, scanner, calculator, software, desk, and adjustable chair.
  • Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting.
  • Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of a mouse; occasional reaching
  • Lifting: Occasional lifting and carrying (less than 10 pounds)
  • Environment: Works in office setting; may require occasional irregular hours and/or prolonged hours. Travel between schools is required.
  • Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
  • Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions
