Peak Physical Therapy & Wellness is a locally PT owned and operated outpatient orthopedic practice with 25 years of experience and patient satisfaction throughout 6 clinics in the Denver Metro area.

As Peak has grown over the years, we are seeking to fulfill a long-term organizational goal of expanding our services into the realm of Canine Physical Therapy, so we can better serve our community and their 4-legged friends! We are adding a new facility in the Denver Tech Center area that will be equipped as high-level performance center for humans, and a separate area for canines.

With this expansion, we are looking for a valuable team member who has a valid CCRT or CCRP to join our team & help treat our fury friends. We have multiple options available, between part-time, full-time or per diem pending candidates' needs and desires to work with humans, canines or both!

If so, you could be the person we are looking for to fill our position of Canine Rehabilitation Therapist who will be providing rehab services to pets and their parents at Peak Physical Therapy and Wellness


The Role:


You will be responsible for providing rehab services for a variety of diagnoses of both Canines and humans, helping clients understand the rehab process, and ensuring the smooth transition for each initial evaluation to a plan of care with Peak Physical Therapy and Wellness.


Ultimately, your job is to help us grow and be able to provide rehab services to more pets & parents in Denver, CO. You will be an integral part of the business by maintaining the exceptional level of care already being provided and helping the business to grow at the same time.

Requirements:


  • Must be a licensed physical therapist in the state of CO.
  • Must be certified in canine rehabilitation with a CCRT or CCRP.
  • Possess a solid knowledge and understanding of canine anatomy and general animal health.

Knowledge and Skills Development


  • Provide compassionate care to patients. Our work is about caring for living creatures, no matter how many legs they use.
  • Remain current in continuing education regarding animal rehabilitation services and therapies.
  • Be familiar with rehabilitation treatment modalities such as laser, E-Stim, Ultrasound, Shockwave, etc.
  • Develop and/or advance your manual therapy techniques with canines, including a variety of joint mobilization and soft tissue techniques that will help improve outcomes with a patient s prognosis
  • Utilizing fear-free methods, must be comfortable working with and handling dogs of all sizes.
  • Understand HOW to appropriately progress a patient s exercise program instead of simply following a cookie-cutter protocol.
  • Must maintain a high level of time-management, organization, and communication skills.
  • Maintain the knowledge, understanding, and ability to choose appropriate exercise and therapy plans for patients based on their medical needs.
  • Demonstrate an ability to quickly and proficiently understand and absorb new information.
  • Advance your ability to implement knowledge and skills as physical therapists to canines, with an emphasis on manual therapy and exercise progression and a heavy focus on home exercise programs.
  • Ensure that patients achieve their clinical and lifestyle outcomes according to the treatment plan.

  • Be an integral part of the patient care team and work closely with staff, veterinarians and medical professionals, as needed.
  • Ability to multi-task as well as work independently.
  • Collaborate openly with staff and clients to ensure a well-rounded experience for each pet.

  • Be flexible with working hours that could include evenings and Saturdays, as needed.
  • Be punctual with appointments.

  • Ability to think on your feet and quickly prioritize what is most important at that time.

  • You must be comfortable with technology, such as computers and EMR.
  • Learn how to implement a variety of systems and devices such as wheelchairs and braces that will help enhance the patient s well-being.
  • Understand how we track different KPIs (key performance indicators) and metrics, and how they relate to your job performance.
  • Contribute, as needed, with developing content for blog posts, social media, marketing materials, and monthly newsletters to potential referral sources.
  • Periodically assist with public relations and education (e.g., veterinarians, clients, or the general public) about the profession of animal rehabilitation and what PT has to offer.

Organization and Planning

Ensure accurate and timely documentation using our EMR

  • Ensure that clinical notes are kept up-to-date, accurate, and completed in the agreed time frame needed for the business to function effectively.
  • Advance your skills on low-stress dog handling and positive reinforcement training so you can effectively achieve treatment goals, while keeping yourself and the patients safe.
  • Ability to prepare and discuss the evaluation, goal setting and treatment of patients, progression of treatment and plan for discharge.
  • Ability to diagnose and manage customized treatment plans, working closely with our referring veterinarians.
  • Understand how to appropriately progress a patient s exercise program according to their individualized treatment plan.
  • Be proactive with growing as a person through personal development and mindset training.

  • Be responsible for limiting drop-offs (clients who book appointments and then drop off the schedule). Learn to recognize early signs of someone dropping off and actively work on strategies with the Peak Physical Therapy & Wellness team that will help maintain them on the schedule.
  • Maintain current standards of business metrics that have allowed Peak Physical Therapy and Wellness to grow to this point specific numbers used will be discussed during onboarding process, but metrics include, but are not limited to: number of visits, number of new patients, conversion % from evaluation to plan of care, patient visit average, packages sold, completed Plan of care %, conversion % from rehab to wellness, and PT utilization ratio.
  • Understand how we market successfully in the field of canine rehab.

Salary: competitive with human PT positions locally, dependent on experience

$70,000-$85,000 year
