Why we need you.

We are looking for a dedicated Laboratory Technician to join our Quality team located in Marion, IN, where we strive to uphold the utmost standards of quality, safety, and compliance. As a vital member of our team, you will be responsible for analyzing incoming grain and raw materials, closely monitoring the production process, and meticulously verifying the accuracy of product certificates of analysis (COAs).

You'll collaborate closely with our Quality Manager to ensure adherence to rigorous standards for quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance. By promptly identifying and reporting quality issues to the Quality Manager and production operators, you'll play a vital role in maintaining our production processes and ensuring that our products consistently meet specifications for safety and quality.

  • Implement and maintain food safety programs (HACCP & FSMA) and act as backup to designated PCQI.
  • Assist in traceability exercises and promote a Food Safety Culture.
  • Adhere to Human Safety Policies, wear required PPE, and promote Safety Culture.
  • Support plant initiatives for high-quality, compliant, and safe food.
  • Serve as technical resource for new applications, product functionality, and testing.
  • Sample and assess packaged products for quality compliance.
  • Assist in problem-solving for production and customer concerns.
  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of lab equipment; handle chemicals safely.
  • Develop, maintain, and update food safety and regulatory programs.
  • Assist with audits, compliance, customer requirements, and complaint resolution.

Requirements
  • BS Degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or Chemistry is preferred.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent with an interest in the Biology and Chemistry Sciences with the desire and aptitude to grow into the Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or Chemistry fields would be considerable.
  • PCQI, HAACP, IAQI Certifications preferred, or willing to obtain and maintain all forementioned certifications.
  • Previous knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and provide solutions.
  • Ability to put data in the appropriately formatted presentation (i.e.. charts & graphs).
  • Working knowledge of computer programs (i.e. Excel, Word, Power Point).

Wage: $24-27/hour depending on experience
