Location Bloomington, MN
This position is responsible for purchasing raw materials, electronic components, supplies and MRO items at the best value based off price, delivery, and quality.
Responsibilities:
* Place purchase orders for BOM items as determined by MRP. Communicate material shortages to production planners and customer service
* Place purchase orders for supplies, equipment, etc. as required considering price, delivery and quality for best value
* Support sales, manufacturing, engineering and maintenance by sourcing and quoting needed products
* Contact suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries and other problems
* Monitor vendor performance and recommend modification or improvements when necessary
* Establish, evaluate and monitor contracts to ensure supplies comply with terms and conditions established
* Provide assistance with special projects, either assigned, or as needed interdepartmentally
* Work cooperatively with others to assure cycle counts of inventory are timely and accurate. Assist with reconciliation of inventory as needed
* Review material usage to establish safety stock and/or blanket orders to ensure material is readily available
* Primary focus on electronic component purchasing
Requirements:
* High school diploma or GEDB
* APICS Certification preferred. If certification is not in place progress towards this goal will be required
* Minimum of 3 years experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably a job shop
* Purchasing and/or planning experience
* Experience with MRP systems and Microsoft office applications, primarily Word and Excel
