Job Title: Career Technical Education (CTE) Career Program Coordinator

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently hold, or ability to acquire Secondary New Mexico State Public Education Department Teacher Licensure, or be eligible through industry experience/licensure to qualify for New Mexico State Public Education Department Vocational Teaching License; and
  • Applicants must demonstrate knowledge, experience, and understanding of Career Technical Education pathways and/or opportunities in post-secondary school/employment.


The CTE Pathway Coordinator will advise, recruit, and make students aware of the various CTE programs and pathways available in RRPS. Students will learn about the numerous course options, pathways, and post-secondary career opportunities. The CTE Program Coordinator will work in conjunction with the CTE Director to increase enrollment and participation in all CTE courses and will manage Dual Credit/Dual enrollment, promotion, registration, and course selection. The CTE Program Coordinator will also manage all CTE senior capstone projects including student internships and pre-apprenticeship activities.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with CTE Director to write, coordinate, and monitor state/federal, and corporate CTE grants/funding sources including Carl Perkins, NexGen, Near Peer, Innovation Zone, and legislative monies;
  • Attend and participate in all state-wide Perkins planning meetings, and in staff development activities, in-service trainings, and staff meetings;
  • Collect data and organize systems required for CTE programs and grant reporting;
  • Develop a system to monitor labor statistical data as it relates to RRPS CTE Pathways;
  • Develop systems to monitor grant expense compliance;
  • Communicate current application/award status with CTE Director on a weekly basis;
  • Assists with the development and creation of new courses within CTE Pathways;
  • Provides leadership and support for the staff and collaborates with administrators, instructional staff, and community members in assuring that appropriate CTE curriculum and instructional practices are occurring;
  • Assists CTE instructors in developing curriculum that is rigorous, and prepares students for jobs in related fields;
  • Assists CTE instructors with coordinating Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO's) and their related activities;
  • Collaborates with instructors on best practices and technology to enhance learning;
  • Researches and coordinates industry certification opportunities for CTE students;
  • Work with CTE Director to communicate with local industry members in order to stay abreast of labor demands, current standards, and new trends in industry for grant submissions and reporting;
  • Oversees the purchasing of equipment and supplies as prescribed by funding sources;
  • Ensures continuous communication with CTE Director, site administrators, and instructors, to keep them informed of changes in funding that impact courses;
  • Works closely with RRPS inventory control to manage grant-purchased assets;
  • Assist CTE Director in setting up program capstones that align with industry expectations;
  • Coordinate Industry advisory meetings with subject matter teachers;
  • Willing to obtain defensive driving certification and training to transport students in District-owned vehicles to job shadowing opportunities;
  • Education Profession and the RRPS Employee Standards of Conduct and upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state and federal regulations;
  • Complies with the ethical and professional guidelines promulgated by any board governing employee's licensure;
  • Complies with state-approved New Mexico Administrative Code of Ethical Responsibility of the Education Profession and the RRPS Employee Standards of Conduct and upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state and federal regulations; and
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work Hours: Salary and work year as per adopted Rio Rancho Public Schools Staff Salary Schedule.
