Description

The Lead Veterinarian serves as the medical leader of the practice, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment that results in an excellent treatment experience for the patients and clients we serve, as well as an excellent employment experience for the practice's patient care team.

The Lead Veterinarian works with the associate veterinarian and the Regional Medical Director to help ensure that quality and appropriate veterinary medicine is performed within the practice. Additionally, they partner with the Practice Manager in matters of general management, staffing/scheduling, as well as ensuring that operational and financial goals are being met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Veterinarian's role in the hospital is a position of leadership, trust, and respect and shall conduct themselves accordingly
  • Support the development of staff members through support of the company's LevelUp clinical training program
  • Promote the human-animal bond through exceptional client experience
  • Manage multiple patients and varying priorities within allotted timeframes
  • Oversee the medical care of all patients of the practice and serve as the veterinarian of record for all required hospital permits and licenses
  • Partner with Practice Manager to set medical standards within the hospital and supervise communication with clients, being available to address questions, concerns, or medical complaints as they arise
  • Collaborate with Regional Medical Director to establish medical guidelines and partner with Practice Manager to support medical training of support staff


Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
  • DVM/VMD degree from an AVMA accredited college (or successful completion of the ECFVG or PAVE program)
  • Active license in good standing to practice in the state in which candidate will be employed (or the ability to obtain a license in that state)
