Traction Power Manager Primary Job Location: Honolulu, Hawaii Employment Format: Full Time/On site Position Overview: The Traction Power Manager leads and oversees all aspects of corrective, preventive, and unscheduled maintenance activities related to the Traction Power System equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and reliability. This role requires extensive knowledge of high voltage equipment, switches, circuit breakers, SCADA systems, and related infrastructure within a railway environment. The Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing maintenance activities, as well as ensuring compliance with safety regulations and operational standards. Responsibilities: Lead and support corrective, preventive, and unscheduled maintenance activities for Traction Power System equipment, including substations, switchgear, transformers, batteries, UPS, breakers, relays, and programmable logic controllers. Supervise maintenance technicians and provide guidance and support in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving technical faults. Conduct regular inspections and observations to identify potential failures and malfunctions, ensuring timely repairs and maintenance. Plan and ensure the execution of all maintenance activities, including track, third rail, and related infrastructure maintenance. Maintain accurate maintenance records using a computerized maintenance management system. Analyze maintenance data to identify trends and provide recommendations for improvement. Ensure compliance with technical specifications, operational standards, and safety regulations. Implement and enforce safety procedures, including Red Tag and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Conduct job and safety briefings as required, ensuring the safety of staff and equipment during maintenance activities. Manage the resources assigned to the maintenance section to optimize utilization and efficiency. Plan for preventive and corrective maintenance activities to meet system availability requirements. Ensure that sufficient materials, tools, and equipment are available and in good condition for maintenance activities. Implement sound employee relations practices within the organization, in compliance with regulations and union agreements. Participate in training programs and provide guidance to technicians as required. Conduct special studies and investigations as directed, acting as a trouble shooter or special projects officer. Assist in developing component overhaul, rehabilitation, and replacement programs. Qualifications: Required: Proven experience in maintenance and management within a railway or similar infrastructure environment. Extensive knowledge of high voltage equipment, SCADA systems, and related infrastructure. Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to effectively manage resources and optimize maintenance activities. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Proficiency in using electronic test equipment, power tools, and specialized hand tools. Ability to work in close proximity to high voltage equipment and third rail systems. Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as required by operational needs. Recommended: Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (preferred).
