Summary

The Plant Manager will be responsible for providing strong leadership and direction in all areas of facility operation including administration, production, processing, packaging, quality, maintenance, warehousing, inventory control, shipping and receiving, purchasing, safety, and environmental.

Key Activities

  • Collaborate with Ownership to ensure main points of emphasis and KPIs are being met.
  • Ability to develop, direct, improve, manage, and report on all manufacturing processes and related metrics for throughput, efficiency, productivity, cost, maintenance, quality, inventory control, downtime, and waste.
  • Analyze plant operations to ensure the facility maintains a leadership position in the industry and that it takes advantage of new technologies and processes as they become available.
  • Plans and coordinates all plant activities to ensure manufacturing targets and objectives are satisfied and completed.
  • Coordinate with Floor Supervisor to ensure production flow is efficient and organized.
  • Maintain strict organization of the warehouses.
  • Meets and/or exceeds budgeted plant metrics.
  • Develop/manage implementation of plant capital budget.
  • Leads Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives in the plant.
  • Understands and meets the requirements for all federal, state, and local environmental and regulatory health and safety standards and metrics.
  • Ensures the safety of all employees through training, coaching, and procedural development/implementation.
  • Responsible for the development/refinement of the operations department s policies, programs, procedures, documentation, and training. All activities must be consistent with SQF requirements and industry best practices.
  • Partners with the sales team and manages the plant operations to effectively schedule, produce, and ship customer orders for products meeting corporate, regulatory, and customer quality and food safety requirements.
  • Provides leadership and training to accomplish company and plant goals and objectives.
  • Conduct physical inventories as directed with attention to detail.
  • Assures mid-year and annual performance reviews for all plant employees are performed and documented.
  • Develops and recommends employee incentive programs.
  • Leads and/or supports and monitors employee programs and processes including recruiting, selection, orientation, assimilation, safety, training, employee engagement, and retention.
  • Responsible for overall succession planning and development of plant management staff
  • Understands and meets all federal, state, and local food safety regulations


Preferred Skills

  • Prior international experience preferred

Educations & Experience


  • A Bachelor s degree, preferably in Business, Engineering, or related field of study is preferred
  • Experience as a Plant Manager or Production Manager in a food manufacturing facility (USDA preferred)
  • 5-7 years of progressively responsible supervisory and management experience in a manufacturing environment is required
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and quality systems is required.
  • Must have experience leading change and quality improvement initiatives within a plant environment.
