Overview:
We're currently seeking a Cost Estimator specializing in Electrical systems to join our team within the Flex Air Division.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and standards set by Executive Management.
- Generate material take-offs and cost estimates for various electrical projects including Low, Medium, High Voltage Electrical Power Systems and PLC/DDC Controls for Custom AHU s, Modular Switchgear rooms, Modular Electrical Skids, Central Utility Plants, Chiller/Boiler Plants, Pump Houses, and Modular Grow Rooms.
- Interpret and analyze specifications, drawings, and project documentation.
- Develop preliminary designs and drawings as necessary.
- Produce accurate and timely cost estimates for both material and labor of electrical systems.
- Draft scope of work documents, documenting any clarifications or exceptions to bid documents.
- Collaborate with internal estimating team to ensure accuracy and timeliness of quotes.
- Assist in project management and estimating of change orders when required.
- Stay informed about industry programs, manufacturing advancements, and technical developments.
- Ensure material pricing is current before providing cost estimates to Sales.
- Contribute to the development of Value Engineered concepts.
- Assist in establishing and communicating company standards with engineering and manufacturing.
- Coordinate with engineering, production, and management to estimate costs for non-core opportunities.
- Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned by the Estimating Manager.
- Monitor "After Build" budgets to ensure estimate accuracy throughout project completion, leveraging insights from past project performances.
Requirements:
- Minimum: Associate Degree or Technical Degree in a related discipline from an accredited college or university. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- Preferably (1-3) years of concurrent Estimating experience and (1-3) years of experience in Production, coupled with significant manufacturing floor knowledge within structural steel fabrication. Strong preference for experience with design/build HVAC systems.
- Proficiency in mathematics, reading, and listening skills to understand budgetary considerations.
- Ability to adapt to change, demonstrate flexibility, and work within deadlines.
- Knowledge of MS Office, Excel, Global Shop ERP, AutoCAD, Solidworks, and other systems supporting accounting needs.
- Familiarity with step-by-step production routing processes.
- Capacity to identify complex problems, develop and evaluate opinions, and implement solutions.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and possess strong knowledge and experience with design and fabrication, while collaborating closely with sales and manufacturing personnel to determine requirements.
