Job Description
CAD Technician II 100% onsite (located in our Glen Allen, VA office). Some work from home is OK, but the expectation is minimum 3 days per week in-office.
6 mo. duration, possible temp to hire, shift timing 8:00am to 5:00pm
Interview process: 1st round would be a 30-minute screening call with hiring manager (me). 2nd round would be in-person preferred, MS Teams with video as a second option. Candidate would meet with 3 individuals, 45-minutes each.

Travel:
Travel to a project site may include longer drives with the project team (3-6 hours) or a short flight (e.g. Richmond to Newark), with some overnight stays.
This travel is not mandatory (especially inside of the first 6 months of employment), but it's something we would want to expose our CAD designers to eventually.
If they are unable to travel due to insurance liability, I'm OK with that for the short term.
This position is responsible for preparing working drawings, primarily using Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CAD) tools and techniques. It also includes the interpretation and drafting of engineering sketches.
Prepare high quality engineering drawings from established layouts and initial rough sketches utilizing drafting principles, industry graphic standards, and corporate drawing practices.
Perform basic mathematical calculations to determine the accurate scaled presentation of scope elements during the development of engineering drawings.
Setup and maintain CAD files.
Understands the CAD system features and commands.
Ensure conformance to office and industry drafting standards.
Convert and import architectural drawing files into CAD.
Convert and import text and schedules to drawings.
Ability to load and utilize lisp files and functions and run script files.
Understand and comply with quality requirements.
Estimate project drafting time to ensure scope, schedule, budget and expectations corresponds with the team expectations.
Ensure timely production and delivery of reprographics.
Provide input to designers, engineers and project managers during initial and subsequent design phases.
Coordinate and prioritize workload to ensure project deadlines and budgets are met.
Perform field investigation as required.
Signature level authority as indicated by the Authorization Level Document
Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION:
Associates degree or two years of progressively responsible experience as a CAD Technician may be considered equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) to five (5) years relevant work experience required.
