OPPORTUNITY SUMMARY

The Senior Research Assistant - Culinary Science is assigned to assist and support staff and/or faculty in the School of Culinary Science and Nutrition in the design, preparation, execution, and communication of research activity, as well as curriculum support as needed.

SHIFTS

  • AM and PM weekdays, some weekends.


ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Scientific, technical, and professional literature review and synthesis.
  • Experimental design, preparation, and execution; experimental data collection, synthesis, and analysis.
  • Develop, maintain, and update an information management system to collate and organize literature review and experimental findings.
  • Communicate synthesized findings in excellent verbal, written and presentation forms.
  • Manage research workspace; ensuring it is stocked, clean, and organized; ensuring equipment and machinery is properly used and maintained.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all research activity information.
  • Work cohesively, collaboratively, and collegially with other department members and students as part of a team.
  • Communicate all pertinent information to the staff and/or faculty, as necessary.
  • Work independently to achieve project goals as identified, adhering to pre-determined deadlines.
  • Support curriculum development and delivery as needed.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.


PREREQUISITES

  • Culinary Science BPS student enrollment.
  • Completed CUCS-200 Culinary Science: Principles and Applications.
  • Completed or enrolled in at least six additional culinary science lab credits.
  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA.
  • Recommendation from staff and/or faculty


PREFERRED PRIOR EXPERIENCES

  • Background in laboratory or scientific research.

  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with guests, students, and faculty/staff.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills.


Successful applicant must be able to perform all related functions of the assignment which may include working nights and weekends and ability to work in person or virtually using Microsoft Teams.
