How this role will be impactful

Farmer Focus is seeking a qualified, motivated, experienced Maintenance Superintendent to oversee and effectively manage all maintenance responsibilities. Provide leadership and direction to the maintenance team to ensure proper and timely operations of all machinery. The superintendent will have day-to-day supervision of the Supervisor of shift to achieve required maintenance and PM needs in a safe manner and for supporting and sustaining positive working relationships with the production group.

  • Responsible for the management of maintenance systems while focusing on maximum plant capacity, while minimizing cost
  • Assigns proper scheduling of work to maximize task completion with minimal plant disruption, reduction in unscheduled downtime while lowering costs and creating higher plant efficiency
  • Manages the maintenance staff through delegation, policy and procedure administration, assignment of work responsibilities, planning, organizing, directing and follow-up of the work assignment
  • Promotes plant safety performance through administration, enforcement of company and plant policy and procedure and training
  • Accountable for providing solutions and day-to-day support to all operating teams having issues with troubleshooting, problem analysis, equipment failures, etc.
  • Ensures the smooth daily operation of the plant with minimal repetitive issues
  • Maintains compliance with Key Performance Indicators for tracking and reporting the performance of the maintenance function (supplier performance, equipment reliability, overall equipment effectiveness, etc.)
  • Oversee and engage in major painting projects, performing structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings of buildings, and maintaining and repairing building utility systems such as electrical wiring and controls, heating, and ventilating systems
  • Works on projects involving facilities and the alteration or modification of existing facilities
  • Administers training programs to ensure proper operations, preventive maintenance, and repair programs and procedures.
  • Will be required to rotating weekend work

What you bring to this role

  • Bachelor's Degree and 4 years' relevant experience in the supervision of maintenance for food processing or poultry
  • Knowledge of refrigeration and wastewater, PLC's, and electrical systems (both control and industrial wiring)
  • proficient in the following areas: Pipe fitting,/Plumbing, Welding, Shop Machinery, Sheet metal, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Electrical Controls & instrumentation, Automatic Equipment Operation (setup, repair, and tear down)
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Will be required to access the production environment. Must be able to tolerate the varying heat, wet, and chill of the plant. Hearing and eye protective equipment required in the production area. Required to wear hair and beard nets in the production area.
