Brownrigg Agriculture is a large-scale, innovative agribusiness based in sunny Hawkes Bay, with roots firmly planted in the agriculture and horticulture sectors. We invest in top-of-the-line machinery, and we farm quality land - but good people are at the heart of our business.

We have a unique set of boots to fill someone who will help us unearth talent, build our team, and help our operational managers to keep people safe. We are calling this role Recruitment & Safety Manager, but the right person will recognise that what we are looking for is someone who can connect with people and understand our business, leveraging those skills to further develop our safety culture.

While this is fresh ground for us, our current Recruitment Manager and past Health & Safety Manager are still part of the business. This new role is the result of our decision to increase investment in these critical areas.

We are open to the type of career journey you might be on. You could be an operational manager or team leader looking for a change (our current Recruitment Manager came from an operational farming background), or you might be an experienced recruitment or health and safety professional who has strong affinity for the primary industries. We have flexibility with this role to play to your strengths.

Our non-negotiable requirement is your ability to connect with people from all backgrounds. We need someone who sees as much potential in a rusty HQ Holden as a shiny Rolls Royce. You will need to be as comfortable in work boots as you are in a board room, and able to build rapport quickly. You will be a confident communicator and a good listener.

We have a lot of boots on the ground with operational teams focused on cropping (including tractor and truck drivers, mechanics and engineers, and other field-based roles), livestock (shepherds and livestock managers), and post-harvest facilities (squash and onion packhouses), supported by our management and administration team from our base in the beautiful Poukawa valley. This job will be fast-paced for much of the year, but there will also be opportunities to focus on higher level projects. Our business operates under a flat management structure, so this role has the potential to be impactful.

While there is flexibility around your background that leads you to us, to be successful in this role once you get here, you will have:

* At least three years in an ag/hort related people managing role OR recruitment and/or health & safety focussed position;

* The ability to quickly build rapport and connect with people;

* Strong communication skills, verbal and written;

* Excellent planning, organisational, and time management skills;

* Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills;

* Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365.
