Austin Achieve Public Schools is a tuition-free, open-enrollment public charter school preparing youth to attend and excel at the nation s top colleges and universities. Teachers play an essential role in the success of Austin Achieve scholars, as high-quality teaching is the key to student achievement. Additionally, teachers and staff will play a critical role in the development of the school s culture and educational philosophies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a positive adult mentor for students.
- Internalize and implement weekly lesson plans provided by the curriculum.
- Administer Student Assessments to track student readiness and progress.
- Use data from ongoing assessments (formal and informal) to impact future instructional decisions.
- Use of technology as a communication and educational tool to improve scholar achievement and manage work-related tasks.
- Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system that aligns with the district s commitment to restorative practices and a zero-suspension policy.
- Participate in regular manager check-ins and grade-level meetings.
- Attend professional development training before the beginning of the school year and during non-instructional days/times.
- Utilize the knowledge from professional development to improve instructional practices in the classroom.
- Attend weekly staff meetings, parent conferences, and school events.
- Participate and assist in the supervision of all activities and functions dealing with the class and the student body as a whole.
- Help shape and develop a school-wide culture that fosters a safe and nurturing learning environment for all scholars.
- Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with scholars and families.
Qualifications:
- Deep-seated belief in Austin Achieve's mission and vision.
- Be willing to do whatever it takes to ensure all students learn
- Previous success with second language learners and diverse backgrounds
- Bachelor s degree in Early Childhood Education and/or EC-6 Texas certification
- A minimum of two years of teaching experience
- Hold all students to the highest expectations
- Ability to use data to inform instructional practices
- Excellent classroom management and teaching skills
- Experience in collaboratively developing lesson and unit plans
- Strong computer skills and desire to teach with technology
- Native Spanish fluency is desired but not required
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a comprehensive benefits plan, covering most of the employee premium for the base medical plan and subsidizing costs for a spouse/domestic partner and children.
