Pella continues to grow, both organically and through M&A activity, the company is focused on

Building a Talent Advantage. To support this effort, Pella has been shaping its HR function to be a

more strategic, contemporary function that supports the explosive growth of the company. Due to

the incumbent moving into another critical HR leadership role, the organization is hiring a new HR

Director, Operations and Engineering.


In this role, you will report directly to EVP & CHRO John Bollman, serve on the HR and Business

Leadership teams and lead three direct reports, as well as additional dotted line resources. You will

directly support Pella s largest population, the company s more than 7,000 production employees

across 20 plants around the country, as well as the Corporate Operations team, which consists of

operations leadership, procurement, logistics and engineering. Your key responsibility will be

providing HR leadership to the Operations & Engineering teams to define, develop and execute

human capital strategies that deliver and exceed business objectives, including Building Pella s

Talent Advantage. Success in this role will help Pella be one of the winning companies in the war

for talent, which is essential to the success of any company.


To be the ideal candidate for this position, you should have experience in manufacturing

environments at larger companies, where cross-functional operations and HR partnerships were

leveraged to deliver modern, innovative, contemporary practices that drive strong enterprise

results. You should know how to utilize and leverage COEs, shared services and analytics to support

business needs. You will also need both strategic and tactical capabilities, balancing immediate

needs with long-term goals. Finally, alignment with the Pella culture will also be critical you are a

caring leader who prioritizes the need for learning and development while delivering results that go beyond.


Key Accountabilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the EVP of Operations & Engineering, the VP of Manufacturing and the VP of Engineering, collaborating to develop and implement HR initiatives that drive business results and Build Pella s Talent Advantage.
  • Serve as a critical member of the HR & Business Leadership teams, participating in strategic
  • planning efforts.
  • Drive a great employee experience, which includes Pella s differentiated culture, and the employee engagement and retention efforts through the design and execution of initiatives that foster an inclusive work environment.
  • Partner with Senior Leaders to assess current and future organizational needs and develop strategies to address capability, skill and critical role succession gaps.
  • Oversee manufacturing strategic workforce planning efforts, including owning the contract Recruitment Process Outsourcing ( RPO ) relationship and winning the war for labor talent.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to Leaders and HR Team members, enabling and empowering each to reach their full potential.
  • Foster development of HR capabilities critical to the success of the business.
  • Analyze business and HR metrics and trends to provide actionable insights and develop recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices to maintain a competitive edge in attracting and retaining top talent, aligned with the vision of becoming an Employer of Choice in local markets.


Knowledge Base and Experience

  • Experience working in a contemporary HR Model with the know-how to utilize and leverage COEs, shared services and analytics to support business needs.
  • Cultivated a broad HR generalist background from working across different functional HR areas that provided strong working knowledge of how each area affects business operations.
  • Served as a trusted and influential partner to the business.
  • Understands Pella s business strategy and can apply strong operational and versatile skills to drive growth.
  • Gained experience working with a growing company and the resulting change management, adapting quickly to rapidly emerging situations.
  • Operated both in and out of plant/manufacturing environments. Understands the differing needs of both manufacturing and corporate populations.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • At least 15 years of progressive HR experience.
  • Bachelor s degree required; advanced degree preferred
