The Finance controller is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for providing accurate and timely reporting of financial statements at the affiliate level and also to HQ and external stakeholders.

The scope of the job includes accounting within IFRS and GAAP environment, tax, internal controls and compliance with an option for treasury activity.

Area of accountability no.1: Finance reporting

Ensure the timely and accurate reporting of all monthly, quarterly and annual financial information to include preparation and review of detailed financial reports including, but not limited to monthly reporting, consolidation package, supplemental reporting, intercompany reconciliations with all group affiliates, and general ledger reconciliations.

Provide top management and operational staff with reporting, analytical and modeling tools to support performance evaluation and appropriate decision making.

Ensure and maintain efficient coordination and reporting with the group's support functions (finance, accounting, tax, legal, etc.); align with guidelines and practices set up by HQ.

Provide monthly detailed financial analysis (BS, P&L, Ratios and CF) with supporting analysis (inventory, receivables, etc.) to the CFO and general manager.

Coordinate audits including the annual audit and midyear review with the group auditors, internal audits with Group Internal Audit Director, and other audits.

Manage the tax planning process including communication to Group Finance.

Reporting is timely and accurate

Area of accountability no.2: Departmental Management/Leadership

Supervises accounting and tax team; and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.

Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Identify, develop and document standard operating procedures and internal controls around reporting and transactional activities.

Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.

Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, ect. Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.

Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.

Effective departmental performance

Area of accountability no.3: Internal control and Compliance

Ensure compliance with group procedures and best practices as well as local fiscal and statutory requirements.

Assume accountability for risk assessment, safety of assets, compliance with corporate laws and tax regulation.

Set up and ensure application of internal control rules and procedures at all levels of the company, creating a proper internal control and corporate governance environment. Providing pertinent information and financial as well as non-financial perspectives to the company's general management and senior executives.

Apply financial expenditures and participate in assessing the economic and financial impacts of projects such as capital expenditures, acquisitions, licensing agreements, etc.

Validate internal controls on a regular basis to ensure that controls remain appropriate and effective.

Manage response to internal audit report including implementation of improvements within scope of responsibility.

Procedures and control environment are in compliance

Area of accountability no.4: Cross-Functional Collaboration

Collaborates with the other finance department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.

Responds to inquiries from the CFO and other finance and firm wide managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like.

Provide support to the FP&A director and the Industrial finance director for the budget process and analysis between budget and actuals.

Contribute to the achievement of company goals and objectives through budget and reporting support.

Know-how: job-related skills required to complete activities

1. Strong accounting and tax background

2. Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required

3. Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills requires

4. Strong computational and spreadsheet skills are required as well as ERP experience

5. Strong presentation and communication skills

6. Languages (specify level): English - French is a plus but not required

1. VBSA Finance Personnel - Financial and Administrative teams - Executive Management - Group corporate functions (Finance, Accounting, Treasury, management control, internal audit)

2. External Auditors - Tax compliance and consultants - Tax authorities - Lawyers - Banks, Insurance brokers, Insurance companies, and Financial institutions

3. Operational Management (Sales & Marketing, R&D, Business Development, Manufacturing, HR, and IT)

Training/ Experience necessary to fulfill the job

1. CPA Required - Accounting Degree (graduate degree preferred)

2. 10 years experience in Financial management in a manufacturing environment with people management and 2+ years Public Accounting Experience preferably Big 4. IFRS experience preferred.

3. 5 plus years in a Controllership role
