Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Details

Using AutoCad / SolidWorks prepare formal detail piece part and assembly drawings from preliminary design sketches, specifications and other engineering input. Familiar with designing pnuematic and or fluid control components. Utilize and incorporate typical aerospace design, quality and manufacturing standards. Assists the engineer in meeting his assigned due date by completing and documenting a project through its final review, sign-off and release; thereby allowing the engineer to become available to complete design validation and supporting data.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Ability to utilize sketches, customer specifications and any other data to support design activity to design mechanical concepts. Incorporating acceptable tolerances and dimensions as determined for specific capacities, operating requirements, and material selection.
• Prepare bills of material for specific deigns as they are developed and detailed.
• Perform investigative and research work pertinent to the development of designs to assist the engineer in charge, as required.
• Review and institute change requests as directed by the responsible engineer.
• Meets agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner.
• Arrives to work on time, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled.
• Interact with organizational team members and other departments in a professional manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Mechanical or technical school training in mechanical drawing.
• Two years of drafting and design support.

REQUISITE SKILLS REQUIRED

• Must have strong understanding of geometric tolerance techniques based on ANSI Y14.5M-1994.
• Must be 2 + year s experience in an aerospace environment.
• Highly Proficient in Solid Works, and able to produce detailed manufacturing drawings of component and piece parts.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
