Position Summary

The Academic Intern of Pharmacy (Temp) position will undertake an academic internship designed to provide on-the-job training and experience with the Research Team of Dr. Eliane EL Hayek. This position will allow the intern to learn under the guidance, mentorship and direct supervision of a faculty member and two professional post-doctoral research fellows within an academic research setting and applied field of learning. The intern will participate in a range of on-going activities and assigned tasks requiring knowledge of a defined technical, operational, professional, and/or research area. The intern will receive training and mentorship in planning and carrying out activities and assignments while under direct supervision.

Activities/Project associated with the Program:

  • Chemical analysis of polymer contents of various samples.
  • Basic use/application of analytical chemistry instrumentation.
  • Image analysis of histological sections.
  • Quantitation of positively staining cells/regions from experimental models, along with statistical analysis of the resultant data.
  • More basic lab skills may be included. Importantly, the data sets and images are derived from NIH-funded research and the analysis is needed for publication of outcomes.

Conditions of Employment
  • Must be age 16 or older at date of hire; must be in the care of a parent or guardian if under the age of 18.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.


Minimum Qualifications

Currently enrolled in high school or must have obtained high school diploma no greater than 24 months prior to hire date.
