Department: Care Suite Operations

Reports To: Manager, Care Suites

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Job Purpose:

The CNA is responsible for the delivery of optimum quality care to patients while in the Care Suite Program.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists with treatments ordered by physician and supervised by a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Assists patients with tending to personal care, hygiene and activities of daily living

Coordinates with medical professionals from other departments regarding the patient's condition

Reports findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions immediately to nursing staff.

Assists the RN/LPN with taking vital signs and reporting any abnormal findings immediately

Assists with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly

Assists with transfers and ambulation of patients, utilizing gait belts and assistive devices and appropriate transfer technique

Assists with room turnover for patient discharges and admissions

Assists with meal preparation

Assists with office administrative tasks

Assists with managing supplies

All other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements:

High School diploma/GED or equivalent

CNA certification

Maintain status on Nursing Assistant Registry

3-5 years of surgical floor nursing assistance experience preferred

Current CPR certification is required or completed upon hire

Environmental/Working Conditions:

Working environment is a care suite environment. Position may also be exposed to occupational hazards, bloodborne pathogens, as communicable disease. Consistent work hours outside of normal business hours including evenings and overnights.

Physical/Mental Demands:

Stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time

Sit, stoop, and kneel

Excellent vision, hearing, smell, and balance

Requires lifting, carrying, or moving heavier objects (i.e. pushing or pulling up to 100 pounds and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds

Possess full range of motion in shoulders and arms, including reaching above or below the shoulder.
