HVAC Technician


Job Details

Responsibilities include working on assigned work orders and preventative maintenance while performing repairs and maintenance of mechanical apparatuses, equipment and systems ensuring the work is performed in accordance with all relevant codes and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC and mechanical equipment and systems, test & monitor mechanical systems, equipment, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
  • Perform inspections and preventative maintenance on all HVAC and mechanical equipment per checklists and/or manufacturers procedures
  • Ensures the proper function of mechanical safety devices
  • Monitors work done by staff and subcontractors for adherence to all building code requirements
  • Assists in the writing of specifications for repairs, preventative maintenance, standard operating procedures, and emergency operating procedures
  • Document work accomplished utilizing maintenance tracking forms, checklists, and logbooks
  • Analyze and responds safely and appropriately to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service
  • E-test equipment properly and interpret result readings
  • Follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment in a clean and proper manner
  • Follow quality control standards, safety regulations, standard operating procedures, good management practices, and good sanitation practices
  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous
  • All other duties assigned by management

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED equivalency
  • Current Virginia Journeyman HVAC License
  • Must have current or active Top Secret clearance
  • Must be able to respond to emergency call after normal business hours
  • Minimum 4 years on the job HVAC and Mechanical maintenance training
  • Basic computer logic and programming
  • Fluency in spoken and written English language
  • Ability to reach schematic drawings
  • Knowledge of methods, practices, and safety procedures followed in the maintenance of electrical, HVAC, and mechanical equipment
  • Knowledge of materials, tools, equipment, and systems used with building operation and the HVAC trade
  • Knowledge of State and Federal Codes and regulations pertaining to the electrical trade
  • Working knowledge of boiler equipment, including water pumps, water mixing valves and controls
  • Working knowledge of all closed loop chilled water systems
