Position Summary:

Responsible for the observation of cardiac rhythm strips. Reports and records changes in cardiac wave forms to Registered Nurse (RN). Delivers rhythm strips. Documents patient arrivals and departures per unit policy. In addition, responsible for the monitoring of other devices including but not limited to seizure patients and patients at risk for falls. Other duties as assigned by management.

  • Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.
  • Observe and accurately identifies normal and abnormal cardiac wave forms.
  • Demonstrates ability to recognize life threatening arrhythmias/dysrhythmia.
  • Deliver rhythm strips to respective unit.
  • Measures, labels cardiac wave forms, and post strips per unit specific policy.
  • Observe and identify patient behaviors that may suggest a safety risk.
  • Communicate with the Unit RN or ANM ASAP regarding safety risks that are potential or real.
  • Document safety risk events in a clear and accurate manner.
  • Communicate any safety risks to the Unit ANM where the patient resides.

Qualifications:

  • One (1) year as a monitor technician, required.

Education:

  • Satisfactory completion of basic EKG course and/or Pass 80% total minimum score with 100% lethal dysrhythmia identification on basic EKG interpretation exam, required.
  • High School Diploma or GED, required

Each new hire candidate who is offered employment must pass a physical evaluation, urine drug screen and pre-employment background checks before starting work.

*Salary/Hourly Wage range based on experience.
