Upstate Niagara Cooperative, Inc., is searching for a qualified Distribution Safety Manager for our Distribution/Transportation segment. The Distribution Safety Manager is responsible for overall compliance of all shop OSHA and transportation DOT regulations. The Distribution Safety Manager works with Corporate management to continuously improve safety, while operating effectively and efficiently. This position includes travel to other company locations (three-hour radius) to conduct safety training, meetings, and audits, as well as manage insurance claims for accidents/incidents. This candidate will also work with HR departments to mitigate and manage Workers Compensation claims to minimize lost time and assist in creating light duty status job functions. This position is the first call for accidents and responsible for coordination of mandatory drug/alcohol screenings, if mandated, driver accident interview and guidance, as well as working with police and rescued to be assured our employee(s) receive necessary medical attention and securement of company assets.

**Job Responsibilities**

* Possess complete comprehension of all applicable state and federal DOT regulations

* Possess complete comprehension of vehicle accident procedures (DOT, EPA) for each state traveled in

* Perform all tasks in a safe manner and in compliance with all local, state, and federal DOT regulations and company policies

* Have a vast knowledge of Hours of Service rules and regulations with understanding of electronic logging and oversight

* Knowledge of the Data Q challenge system for DOT violations

* Knowledge of HUT and IFTA reporting

* Knowledge of plating commercial vehicles and IRP

* Candidate will have complete responsibility for DOT and OSHA compliance for transportation and repair facilities, conducting driver safety meetings, accident/injury investigations, coordination with insurance companies, and other safety related duties

* Conduct ongoing safety audits/inspections of repair facilities, equipment and processes to ensure compliance of Corporate safety, environmental and government (DOT, OSHA, local agencies) policies and regulations

* Conduct training based on safety needs/trends and identify solutions to continuously improve the safety culture with company employees/repair facilities

* Work with Upstate Niagara Cooperative, Inc., corporate staff to seek out the industries best practices and the most effective and efficient methods to achieve operational excellence in accident prevention and DOT/OSHA compliance

* Ability to lead the Safety team with willingness and assist in other locations when needed

* Ability to travel within a three-hour radius (75%)

* Perform driver ride-along evaluations

* Administer new hire road tests

**Qualifications**

* Minimum five years experience with DOT regulations and transportation safety administration

* CDL preferred

* Bachelors degree in EHS/Certified Safety Director preferred. Will substitute education for demonstrated experience beyond five years

* Experience with Hours of Service compliance and electronic logging devices

* OSHA compliance experience

* In depth knowledge of CSA (Compliance, Safety, Accountability) and corrective methods to maintain compliance

* Experience training CDL drivers

* Ability to travel 75% of the time within a three-hour radius

* Experience interacting with insurance companies and managing claims
