As a result of continuous growth, DarrowEverett LLP is looking for a Legal Billing Clerk. The candidate must have excellent communication and administrative skills, be highly organized and detail-oriented, be able to multitask without sacrificing efficiency, be responsible, and be able to represent the firm, always, in ways that enhance its reputation.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Extensive internal communications within the firm related to time entries and the billing of them, and organized follow up of the same
- Preparing and processing work in progress, pre-bills and final bills to ensure that all client invoices are billed accurately, consistently within client requirements and on a timely basis.
- Editing attorney bills per their requests, in addition to grammatical and spelling edits.
- Reviewing and reconciling account balances in Work In Progress and in Accounts Receivable as needed.
- Assist clients with their requests for invoice copies, billing histories, trust ledgers, etc.
- Tracking the turnaround times for the billing cycle.
- Assist with attorney time entry
- Learning and understanding the new client and matter opening rules and processes. A biller may not be responsible for opening matters daily, but they should be able to audit to find any issues that could affect billing
- Weekly and monthly reporting to management regarding new matters and billings.
- Entering specific billings into online portals per guidelines provided by client.
- Work as a part of a 3-person billing team that share responsibilities in an organized fashion.
Qualifications, Education & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; some college is helpful
- Legal billing background is desired, but not required.
- Advanced computer proficiency, especially with MS Office, Excel, and billing software programs
- Ability to handle multiple projects at a time and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills are required
- Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction, follow up on own initiative
