Job Description

The Part-time Faculty Developer for Teaching Technologies is a member of the LCCC's Teaching and Learning Center (TLC). This individual will play a key role in supporting faculty in teaching and learning processes to enhance student outcomes. The Faculty Developer will provide training, support, and guidance for faculty members in integrating educational technology tools, practices and strategies that support the advancement of teaching and learning for all course modalities.

The Faculty Developer works collaboratively with the Teaching and Learning Center Coordinator, Dean of Teaching and Learning, the TLC staff, TLC Advisory Committee and Teaching with Technologies subcommittee to design, develop, and deliver professional development programming, training and coaching related to the Teaching with Technologies Effective Teaching Pathway.

Reporting to the Teaching and Learning Center, Coordinator, the Faculty Developer responsibilities and typical tasks include but are not limited to the following:

(A) Collaborates with faculty members on technology-enhanced learning experiences in all course modalities.

  1. Provides one-on-one or small group consultations for faculty to identify and integrate academic technologies into course design and delivery.
  2. Leverages modern pedagogy, evidence-based instructional practice, and quality standards to coach new and existing faculty on the use of instructional technologies.
  3. In collaboration with Accreditation and Assessment of Student Learning (AASL) and eLearning, advises faculty on assessment of student learning within the learning management system (CAP).
  4. Stays current on instructional technology updates, emerging technologies and trends in education technology and supports the integration of technology into teaching and learning practices.

(B) Designs, delivers, and assesses faculty training and professional learning in multiple modalities.
  1. Coordinates, schedules, and delivers faculty training in aligned to the Teaching Technologies pathway.
  2. Collaborates with eLearning on learning management system and instructional technology training, including effective teaching and design practices.
  3. Serves as a co-facilitator and designer for the New Faculty Orientation.
  4. Conducts faculty needs assessments and analysis to identify strengths and gaps in training.
  5. Curates online professional learning into faculty development badges and/or certificates aligned to the Teaching Technologies pathway.
  6. Creates online resources, job aides, and training materials, and maintains the LCCC Faculty Learning Hub.
  7. Maintains records of faculty development activities and participation.

(C) Supports a culture of appreciation for faculty professional development.
(D) Liaises with IS&S, ITMS, and eLearning to maintain currency of all equipment and software in the TLC.
(E) Assumes other duties as assigned by the Teaching and Learning Center Coordinator.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree
  • Experience in the field of educational technology and/or instructional design
  • Strong knowledge of educational technology tools and their application in multiple course modalities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, collaborate and consult with diverse groups, including faculty, staff, students, and administrators.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Design or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in the field of educational technology and/or instructional design
  • College teaching experience
  • Experience and familiarity with standards such as ACUE: Effective Teaching Practices, Quality Matters, and SUNY: OCSQR.
