Accounting Manager Job Summary:
The Accounting Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations. This position involves managing various aspects of accounting and finance, including general ledger, month-end activities, supervision of a team of accountants, year-end audit preparation, and fixed assets management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to the values and mission of our faith-based organization.

Key Responsibilities for Accounting Manager:

  1. General Ledger Management:

    • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
    • Oversee the recording of financial transactions and ensure proper documentation.
  2. Month-End Close:

    • Lead the month-end close process, including preparation of financial statements and reports.
    • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  3. Supervision:

    • Supervise and mentor a team of accountants, providing guidance and support in daily tasks and professional development.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and encourage a collaborative and positive working environment.
  4. Year-End Audit Preparation:

    • Coordinate and prepare all necessary documentation for the annual external audit.
    • Collaborate with auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit process.
  5. Fixed Assets Management:

    • Maintain accurate records of fixed assets, including acquisition, depreciation, and disposal.
    • Conduct periodic physical inventories and reconcile discrepancies.

Qualifications for Accounting Manager:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field highly preferred; Associates degree accepted.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting experience, with an understanding of nonprofit accounting principles as a huge plus.
  • Knowledge of fixed assets management.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
