Position Summary

Working in the Air Force can be challenging, both physically and mentally. Our Mental Health Service specialists work closely with psychologists and psychiatrists to help keep our Airmen mentally sound. They evaluate and provide mental healthcare to patients around the world so they can overcome mental challenges, properly perform their jobs and live more fulfilling lives.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Compile and prepare medical and administrative reports.
  • Perform assessments to obtain a patient s clinical information.
  • Administer and score psychological tests.
  • Assist patients with hygiene, nutritional and comfort measures.

  • Non-prior Service enlistment bonus of up to $15,000 with a six-year contract and paid incrementally over six years (dependent on member meeting all eligibility requirements based on IAW Air Force policy and law)
  • Prior Service bonus of up $15,000 for six-year enlistment paid over six years or $7,500 for a three-year contract paid over three years (dependent on member meeting all eligibility requirements based on IAW Air Force policy and law)

Qualifications

  • A high school senior (age 17 or older)*, high school diploma, a GED or 15 college semester hours
  • 57 General (G) score on the ASVAB
  • Knowledge of psychiatry, psychology and nursing principles
  • Completion of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) assessment
  • Completion of a standardized entry interview
  • No record of emotional instability
  • No evidence of personality disorder or unsolved mental health problems within the last seven years
  • Absence of any speech impediment
  • Completion of 7.5 weeks of Basic Military Training
  • Must be between the ages of 17 and 42

*High school students may start their application as early as the end of their junior year.
