Job Details

The Merchandiser Assistant II has primary responsibility for maintaining accounts payable and receivable while following company and division policies and procedures. This position s duties include processing of settlements, freight and miscellaneous payables, accounts receivable, and maintaining accurate inventory records. Ultimately, a successful Merchandiser Assistant II will ensure duties are completed accurately, effectively, and in a timely manner; have a proven ability to continuously learn, problem solve, and implement improvements, and enjoy working with others in a collaborative manner. The MA II exhibits excellent teamwork with other business units and personnel and assists in training new merchandisers and merchandiser assistants (MAs). The person in this role must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, be detail oriented with a high level of accuracy, adaptive, professional, be reliable, and be able to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment. This person will develop a basic understanding of our business to identify potential issues or opportunities and provide useful feedback to management. Partner with Trade Execution Team, Merchandisers and Controllers to provide timely and accurate records for product and freight positions.Deliver excellent service to our customers and vendors, including timely processing of payments and resolution of any problems, as well as coordinating customer product samples. Actively monitor and create Account Receivables, Account Payables, Freight Analysis, and other miscellaneous reports on a daily/weekly basis and resolve any issue.Enter contracts into trading system accurately and timely, ensuring other systems are reconciled.Maintain an organized digital filing system which includes invoices, contracts, reports and payment receipts.Reconcile inventory balances with 3rd party locations monthly.Assist in training new Merchandiser Assistants and other various roles. Assist with testing in I.T projects as needed.Review reports, identifying actionable items and resolutions for their assigned trade unit and serve as a primary resource for merchandiser and MA questions for their assigned merchandiser(s).Takes a broad perspective to problems and spots new, less obvious solutions.Strong business acumenCollaborates with Sr. Accountant and/or Controller to ensure procedures/policies are followed.Required to report all perceived control policy and procedure concerns to the Sr. Accountant and/or Controller.MinimumHigh school diploma or GED2-4 years experience in accounting or related fieldIntermediate understanding of accounts payable and accounts receivable principles and proceduresUnderstanding of cash flowDetail-orientedStrong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasksStrong mathematical and analytical abilityCustomer-centric, self-motivated problem solverProficiency in MS OfficePreferredExperience with supplier accounts and reconciliationsExperience with customer accountsWe encourage all candidates who are enthusiastic about his opportunity and believe they can contribute to our team s success to apply, regardless of whether you meet every qualification.
